Hired!

A while back I made my blog private without any warning - the reason was that very day I had my first phone interview in the process of looking for a job in D.C. Since D.C. is the third most expensive housing market in the nation, it was imperative that I get a job if we wanted to not go from a long-distance relationship to a long-distance marriage. And that's a pretty good motivation. That and avoiding living on the street.

I had warned Hunt to not expect me to become his "sugar mama." That no company was going to hire me back into a sales executive position after working at a mega-church for three years. Not even if they knew that Buckhead Church and North Point Ministries are very tech-savvy. (We all work on Macs, doesn't that make us hip in the tech world by default?)

I kept telling Hunt that I would end up working at the Container Store (which I was not-so-secretly NOT sad about) unless God specifically placed me by His mighty hand into a job. I told him to expect my resume to not get any response, much less an interview, once they saw what I've been up to for the past three years.

One of my favorite "bottom lines" in UpStreet (our elementary program) is that "God is bigger than your biggest problem." And he is. He is bigger than me leaving the corporate world over three years ago and seemingly sacrificing any future opportunity to go back in. He is bigger than me being in Atlanta and trying to find a job in D.C. He is bigger than me wanting to find a job but not wanting to find one too soon before I planned most of the wedding, or too late and having to start right before the wedding. He is bigger than my fears of my current work experience being totally irrelevant to a new job and having to leave behind everything I love about working in ministry. He is so much bigger and gives in excess of anything I could have asked for, or was too scared to ask for.

A good friend referred me to Trinet Internet Solutions back in April and the interviewing process started immediately. There are a lot of God moments that I can point to in the midst of that process, but the biggest being that the job is such a cool combination of what I have done professionally up to this point. Basically, Trinet builds massive websites and anything/everything you can imagine or dream of your website doing for your organization, plus things you haven't thought of yet. They service corporations like Whole Foods, non-profits like the Red Cross, and ministries like Billy Graham's.

My new job with Trinet Internet Solutions is a national sales executive position selling to churches and ministries to expand their reach and exposure for the kingdom of God.

I start on June 21st. Just four months before Hunt and I get married. A perfect living situation has come about for me to live in the extra room of a girlfriend's home in Georgetown.

Yes, it's a lot of change. And I'm having a hard time leaving Atlanta, my parents, my friends, my church, the job I love with a passion, and the wonderful life I've been blessed with here. But how could I possibly refuse to go when it's so obviously crafted by the hand of my heavenly Father?

I serve a Mighty God.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1-4
