Updates on Jake and Ava!

Little Jake is hanging tough at Dekalb Medical, waiting for a room at Children's and then surgery for his sweet heart. Pray for his parent's Tammy and BJ as they are sleeping each night in the bowels of the hospital, in an old, unused wing so that Tammy can feed Jake every 2 hours. It is such a blessing that Jake is feeding regularly, it will help his recovery after his surgery. Hopefully they will be moved tomorrow, on Tuesday, then they will move forward with his observation and decisions about surgery. Pray for Tammy's recovery as well, from the moment they walked into the hospital to when Jake was here, only an hour had passed! It was a rough delivery on Tammy (no epidural!), so her body is definitely hurting and healing. Jake has three heart defects. They are a Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV) and Transposed Great Arteries (TGA), and a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). There is also a possible Coarctation of the Aorta. With the first three defects, Jake may be fine with medicine until he is 5-6 months old, then we can do surgery. If the Coarctation is there, then surgery will be necessary as soon as possible.

Ava is healthy and happy and Leslie is posting more pictures on her blog, so check them out! Ava is such a precious, sweet baby girl...just like her Mama!
