An experiment of sorts...

So in the efforts to trim the fat off of my formerly corporate-world funded existence, I have looked into different ways of cutting the bills. Here is what I've come up with:

  1. Slashing the minutes on my cell - please don't expect me to talk for long if you are a T-mobile, Cingulair or Sprint user. Call my office phone and don't get huffy with me.
  2. Comparison shopping with coupons for groceries, etc. This is actually a challenge I enjoy for some weird reason.
  3. Going home for lunch - but this takes gas, so it might defeat the purpose
  4. Bringing in leftovers - might solve the gas usage problem
  5. Washing my car myself instead of paying others to do it
  6. And finally - a way to cut a hug stinkin' bill:
    I'm TURNING OFF THE CABLE.
This may sound shocking, and potentially catastrophic, to some of you, I realize that. But, when I add up how much time I waste watching TV, and stuff that I don't particularly actually want to watch, it seems like a little bit of breaking an addiction. If I don't have the option of mindless TV - what will I do instead?
  1. Read
  2. Catch up with friends
  3. Take a walk
  4. Go to bed at a decent hour
  5. Stop putting off chores, paperwork, etc
  6. Scrapbook
  7. Write emails/letters
  8. Listen to music
  9. Exercise
  10. Cook a real meal and eat it at the table
So, I begin this week - and I'm actually excited. I think I will be a more productive, well-read, well-rested girl. Here is a website to help for any questions that you might have: http://www.turnoffyourtv.com/

This is of course after Lost has finished it's season. I'm not that disciplined.

Here's the good news... if you still have internet at your apartment, you can always watch Lost (www.abc.com) online for FREE! :) I do this all the time when I miss an episode. Anyways, I applaud your cable-cutting. I wish I could convince Eric that this was a good idea... but then he couldn't watch American Gladiators on ESPN Classic and that would just be a tragedy!
