Get on board

It should come as no surprise that I am very conservative. You don't have to read long to figure that one out. So, following that trail to its logical conclusion, I don't care for big government, extensive taxing, excessive spending and socialism in general. Yesterday, it was interesting to see all of the ads to buy this!, on sale!, tax-day promo! going on during a day when many of us were sending more money to our bloated government. Maybe, just maybe, we are in the midst of over-stimulated consumer culture around here.

That being said, I use the simple 1040ez form, do my taxes myself and have (KNOCK ON WOOD) never owed the government a single cent more. But, in efforts to get a bigger return, I guess I could spend my time itemizing and getting familiar with the current tax code. I'm sure it would be loads of fun. Like hand in the garbage disposal kind of fun.

So, when I heard of the Fair Tax, I was intrigued. Well, excited. Doing away with the socialistic idea of the people that make more, pay more? The death tax would be gone? The inheritance tax would be gone? Really? We would no longer have to pay exorbitant fees for the money our parents worked so hard to make, save and pass on, that has likely already been taxed at least once?

So, if you haven't heard about the Fair Tax, find out more. And then sign the petition with Congressman John Linder. Get on board.
